  • Howard Alum Launches AI App Connecting Restaurants & Influencers

Get ready to discover your next favorite meal in a whole new way! A Howard University alum is behind a groundbreaking AI-powered platform that’s set to transform how restaurants connect with influencers and diners. Taylor Davis, a proud Howard and Cornell MBA graduate, has launched Troodie, a Black-woman-owned startup aiming to revolutionize the $40 billion restaurant marketing industry.

Troodie: AI-Powered Social Commerce for Foodies

Launched during National Black Business Month, Troodie is the first AI-powered social commerce platform designed to directly link influencer content with real-world diner behavior. What makes Troodie unique is its ability to identify which marketing efforts actually drive customers through the door – a crucial metric that has long eluded the industry. “I’m so excited to finally introduce Troodie to the world. We built Troodie for travelers and foodies (Troodies) who love to explore new places through food,” Davis shared with Black Business. “Unlike solutions where reviews are generic or bookmarked restaurants get lost, Troodie makes discovery more personal, easy to filter, and collaborative.”

In today’s social media-saturated world, restaurants invest billions in advertising and influencer campaigns, often struggling to measure the true return on investment. Troodie tackles this challenge head-on by connecting creator content to actual customer visits. It offers sales-based attribution, valuable first-party diner data, and a curated marketplace that matches restaurants with influencers based on audience fit and proven performance.

Driving Measurable Results for Restaurants and Creators

“For restaurants, it means being discovered by the right diners at the right moment, turning authentic word-of-mouth into measurable traffic and sales,” Davis explained. “One of my favorite features is how users can join Communities and share and curate recommendations together. It truly brings the joy of connection through food and travel into one place.”

Davis intentionally chose Charlotte as the startup’s base, recognizing the city’s vibrant dining scene, growing tech ecosystem, and supportive community for innovation, especially for Black founders. “Charlotte offers the perfect mix of a vibrant dining scene, a growing tech ecosystem, and a community that supports innovation — especially from Black founders,” she noted.

    A Streamlined Experience for All

Troodie launched with an impressive network of over 70 restaurants and 30 creators, creating a dynamic ecosystem. Restaurants can now track which promotions lead to paying customers, while creators can monetize their influence through measurable results, moving beyond vanity metrics like likes or follower counts. Diners benefit from an easy way to organize and revisit trusted recommendations, making restaurant discovery more personal and collaborative.

As platforms like TikTok and Instagram become primary sources for finding local eateries, Troodie aims to consolidate this experience into a single, efficient platform. This innovative approach is set to redefine how we connect with food and the people who share their culinary journeys.
