In a significant bust, police in San Bernardino County, California, have recovered over 14 boxes of highly sought-after Labubu collectibles, valued at approximately $30,000. Authorities believe these popular keychains were stolen from a warehouse over several days and were being prepared for resale and shipment across the country.
The Investigation and Recovery
The Chino Police Department reported that during their investigation, a search warrant was executed at a residence in Upland. While one suspect attempted to flee, they ultimately surrendered without incident. Detectives discovered fourteen boxes filled with the stolen merchandise, along with evidence like packing materials and shipping labels, indicating the items were ready to be distributed to buyers nationwide.
Labubus, which are small plush keychains from the popular Pop Mart toy line, have become incredibly popular among collectors. Their high demand means they can fetch hundreds of dollars each on resale platforms, unfortunately making them a prime target for thieves.
Similar Thefts Under Investigation
This incident follows closely on the heels of a similar theft in Los Angeles, where a group of suspects made off with $7,000 worth of Labubus from a retail store. Surveillance footage captured multiple individuals loading entire boxes of the plush collectibles into vehicles. While police have not yet confirmed if the two cases are connected, the timing and value of the stolen items suggest investigators are exploring potential links between the incidents.
