The trial for the late Jacksonville rapper Foolio, whose real name was Norris, has kicked off with deeply emotional testimony. On Wednesday, October 22, a close friend of the artist, identified only as Mr. Norris, took the stand to recount the harrowing events of the day Foolio was killed.
The courtroom was filled with tension as Mr. Norris described being in the back of Foolio’s Dodge Charger, parked outside a Holiday Inn in Tampa, Florida, on the night of the incident. He recounted being jolted awake by loud noises, initially mistaking them for a car accident. The reality, however, was far more devastating.
A Witness to Tragedy
“The first thing I saw was Foolio laid out,” Norris testified, his voice trembling. He explained that it wasn’t until he looked closer and saw the bullet holes, and his friend Xavier covered in blood and yelling, that he understood the gravity of the situation. The group then rushed into the hotel seeking assistance.
Despite not being visually shown during the courtroom stream, Mr. Norris’s audible distress was palpable. His voice shook as he struggled to recount the events, clearly overwhelmed by the tragedy. The emotional weight of the crime scene photographs proved too much for him to bear.
The Suspects and the Charges
The judge eventually excused the jury and Mr. Norris to allow him a moment to compose himself. Adding to the emotional intensity of the trial is the presence of one of the accused murder suspects, Alicia Andrews. She is one of five individuals alleged to be involved in orchestrating Foolio’s death.
Andrews, along with her boyfriend Isaiah Chance, reportedly acted as lookouts for the three other suspects: Sean Gathright, Rashad Murphy, and Davion Murphy. These four are expected to face trial next spring. Andrews herself is facing serious charges, including premeditated first-degree murder and conspiracy to commit murder. Foolio tragically passed away from his gunshot wounds on June 23, 2024, the same day he was celebrating his 26th birthday.
