  • Bozoma Saint John Engaged to Keely Watson!

Love is truly in the air for Bozoma Saint John! The former media executive and reality TV star, known for her vibrant personality and resilience, is embarking on a beautiful new chapter. She’s officially said “yes” to her longtime love, Keely Watson, who orchestrated a grand and unforgettable romantic proposal.

    A Grand and Romantic Proposal

Watson confirmed to People Magazine that pulling off the surprise engagement required meticulous planning and a collaborative effort with Saint John’s family. “I really wanted that element of surprise, and so it was a lot of planning and coordinating on my part with the help of her daughter, Lael, and also her assistant, Nico,” he shared. While Lael and Nico managed the guest list, Watson’s nieces were instrumental in preparing the space, ensuring every detail contributed to a “special” atmosphere.

And special it was! The proposal featured over 14 dozen roses, a stunning bouquet of 100 blooms, a red carpet walkway, and glowing candles. The pivotal moment occurred under a crimson-draped canopy, surrounded by even more roses and candles, creating a truly magical setting for Watson to pop the question.

A Testimony of Resilience and Second Chances

For Saint John, this engagement is more than just a love story; it’s a powerful testament to resilience. “This engagement is my testimony: you can rise from grief, reclaim your joy, and still find a love worthy of your ‘yes,’” she shared. “Keely is proof that God’s timing is perfect — and so is His plan. I’m saying yes to life, to love, and to the miracle of second chances.”

Her words carry profound weight, especially considering her past. Saint John was married to Peter Saint John for a decade before his passing in 2013 after a battle with cancer. Together, they shared a daughter, Lael. After years of healing and personal growth, she has found love again, culminating in this beautiful commitment made on August 29th at West Hollywood’s Boa Steakhouse.

    Looking Towards the Future

Saint John admitted she was still in shock and disbelief, even though she knew marriage was in their future. “I wasn’t sure where or when Keely would ask,” she confessed, adding, “I wanted to be able to be composed through it, but that was hard to do because my emotions were at an all-time high.” Watson shared similar sentiments, expressing relief that the elaborate planning paid off and looking forward to their future together. In a heartfelt joint Instagram post, Saint John beautifully summarized her feelings: “I’m saying yes to life, to love, and to the miracle of second chances. I love you with everything that I am.”

  • Mattie Gaffney: Empowering Nurses to Become CEOs

Mattie Gaffney’s journey into healthcare entrepreneurship began not with a business plan, but with a personal crisis. Witnessing her mother’s struggle with inadequate care after a severe burn injury in Phoenix ignited a passion to improve healthcare quality. Despite having zero prior healthcare experience, Gaffney founded Abloom Healthcare, and in just three years, has not only built a successful business but has also empowered over 40,000 nurses to transition from clinical roles to becoming business owners themselves.

From Personal Crisis to Healthcare Revolution

Gaffney’s inspiration stemmed from the subpar care her mother received, both in the hospital and from home caregivers. Frustrated by the lack of quality, continuity, and compassion, she decided to establish her own home care agency focused on excellence. “I want to focus on quality of care. I want to help with continuity of care. I want to make sure my caregivers are well trained experts in the industry,” she explained.

Launching Abloom Healthcare in Tempe, Arizona, Gaffney navigated the business landscape through extensive research and conversations with industry professionals. She learned about the differences between regulated and non-regulated healthcare services, particularly in states like Arizona where non-skilled home care doesn’t require a license. This knowledge, combined with the support of her nurse friends, allowed her to successfully launch and make her business profitable within six months.

Shifting Mindsets: From Employee to Owner

Gaffney’s work involves a significant mindset shift for nurses accustomed to the stability of clinical employment. Many nurses, especially those with decades of experience and high incomes, find it challenging to leave six-figure salaries. Gaffney guides them to understand how companies profit from their credentials and sweat equity, encouraging them to leverage their expertise by starting their own businesses.

“Just imagine if you took that same 12 or 16 hour shift that you spend working for someone else and created your own business,” she advises. By teaching the business side of healthcare, Gaffney helps nurses become “bulletproof,” combining their clinical skills with business acumen to achieve greater financial freedom and ownership.

Building Generational Wealth and Second Chances

To build generational wealth, Gaffney advises healthcare professionals to identify a niche and determine who they want to serve – whether it’s seniors, children, veterans, or individuals with specific health conditions. She stresses the importance of thorough research into necessary licenses and roles, and highly recommends hiring mentors. Gaffney herself invested in expensive mentors to learn the setup of mental health clinics, valuing the knowledge gained over the cost.

A core part of Gaffney’s mission is providing second chances to formerly incarcerated individuals. Inspired by her brother’s long incarceration and his plea for reintegration support, Gaffney aims to create comprehensive reentry programs. Her vision includes establishing facilities that offer services like case management, therapy, detox, inpatient/outpatient care, methadone clinics, and homeless shelter integration, catering to both men and women, including those escaping domestic violence or substance abuse.
