It appears the decade-long legal saga involving hip-hop mogul Jay-Z and Rymir Satterthwaite has finally reached its conclusion. In a surprising turn of events, after winning the case outright in federal court, Jay-Z has decided not to pursue any attorney fees from Rymir. This marks a quiet end to a chapter that has seen years of accusations and legal filings.
A Decade-Long Legal Journey Concludes
According to recently filed documents, the billionaire rapper allowed the judge’s deadline to pass without requesting reimbursement for his legal costs. A Los Angeles federal judge confirmed that the matter is now permanently closed, and the opportunity for Jay-Z to recoup expenses has expired. After ten years of public scrutiny and legal battles, Hov has seemingly chosen to let the matter rest.
Back in July, Rymir Satterthwaite voluntarily dismissed his lawsuit, which accused Jay-Z of being his biological father and alleged that the rapper had refused to take a DNA test. At the time, Rymir insisted his decision was strategic, stating during a livestream, “I did withdraw my case, but it’s for a reason. I have not stopped my fight… It is not over.” However, legally speaking, especially in federal court, the case has indeed concluded.
Related Lawsuit Also Dismissed
Adding to the finality of the situation, a related lawsuit filed by Rymir’s godmother and legal guardian, Lillie Coley, was dismissed “with prejudice” by U.S. District Judge Sherilyn Peace Garnett in early November. This ruling effectively shut down any future attempts to bring similar claims back to federal court. Coley had echoed Rymir’s allegations, claiming his late mother, Wanda, had a relationship with Jay-Z in the early 1990s and that the rapper used his influence to evade accountability.
Throughout the years of legal proceedings in various states, Jay-Z’s legal team has consistently maintained that the paternity claims are untrue and fabricated. They have described the entire saga as a “decades-long harassment campaign,” pointing out that multiple courts have found no evidence to support Rymir’s claims and could not compel Jay-Z to take a DNA test.
Where Things Stand Now
With both cases dismissed and no pursuit of legal fees, Jay-Z appears to be completely finished with this matter. While Rymir may continue to privately assert that his fight is not over, the legal avenues for him to pursue paternity claims are now virtually nonexistent. After a decade filled with rumors, court filings, and online speculation, the courts have spoken, and Jay-Z has made it clear he has no interest in revisiting the issue.
