  • Eminem Honors Proof: 20 Years of Friendship

Twenty years. It’s a significant milestone, and for Eminem, April 11, 2026, marks a deeply poignant one. It’s been two decades since his dear friend, D12 collaborator, and former hype man, Proof, passed away. Eminem, who doesn’t often share personal messages on social media, took to Twitter to share a heartfelt tribute, reminding us all of the powerful bond they shared.

    A Bond Forged in Detroit

In his touching message, Eminem expressed how Proof remains a constant presence in his thoughts. “Not a day goes by that I don’t think about you in some way shape or form…” he wrote. He went on to call Proof one of the greatest friends he’s ever had, expressing gratitude for their connection and believing it happened for a reason.

Eminem vividly recalled their first meeting on the steps of Osborne, handing out flyers. That chance encounter led to an instant rap session and a lifelong friendship. From that moment on, they were inseparable, embarking on an incredible journey together in the music industry.

    Proof’s Lasting Impact

The Detroit legend credited Proof with significantly influencing his career trajectory. He highlighted Proof’s unwavering belief in him, their shared ambition, and how he helped boost Eminem’s self-esteem and confidence. Proof’s early cosigns at clubs and open mics were crucial in opening doors and minds to Eminem’s talent.

This enduring friendship continues to resonate. The release of the soundtrack for the STANS documentary on Slim Shady, with his estate now controlling his posthumous releases, has allowed more fans to connect with Proof’s music. As long as Eminem remains an iconic figure in hip-hop, Proof’s legacy is sure to live on.

    Remembering Other Legends

Eminem also recently shared tributes for other notable figures in the music world. He paid respects to the legendary radio host and rapper Lord Sear, remembering their time together on tour and on Shade45. He described Sear as one of the greatest people to be around, whose humor and presence made the world a better place.

“You were and are still truly one of the greatest friends I ever had in my entire life and I thank God everyday that he put us in each other’s lives…” — Eminem

These tributes underscore the deep connections Eminem has forged throughout his career. Proof remains at the very top of that list, and these heartfelt messages show just how profound and lasting their bond truly is. Rest in peace, Proof.

  • Proof’s Estate Gains Music Control, New Tracks Coming

Great news for hip-hop fans and supporters of the late, great Proof! After nearly two decades, his estate has finally secured full control of his music. This long-awaited development means fans can now access his official album, compilations, and even some unreleased tracks.

A Long Road to Music Control

Proof, a foundational member of D12 and Eminem’s closest friend, tragically passed away in 2006. Since then, his estate has faced significant challenges in gaining control over his musical catalog. However, as confirmed by Detroit hip-hop figure Mark Hicks (Proof’s brother-in-law), this struggle has finally come to an end.

Hicks shared on Instagram, “In this last year FINALLY Proof’s wife (my sister Sharonda) & his children have control of his estate so now enjoy his only official album Searching For Jerry Garcia, his compilations I Miss The Hip-Hop Shop, Grown Man S**t on streaming sites + YouTube.”

New Tracks on the “STANS” Soundtrack

Adding to the excitement, Hicks also revealed that two brand-new tracks from Proof and D12 will be featured on the soundtrack for the upcoming Eminem documentary, “STANS.” The soundtrack is set to release on August 26, coinciding with the documentary’s debut on Paramount+.

While Eminem’s store had previously hinted at unreleased music on the soundtrack, Hicks’ confirmation suggests these will be entirely new, unheard tracks. This is a massive win for fans eager to hear more from the talented MC.

    The “STANS” Documentary

The “STANS” documentary, which had a limited theatrical run in early August, offers an in-depth look at the enduring friendship between Eminem and Proof. Its release on Paramount+ on August 26, alongside the soundtrack, marks a significant moment for celebrating Proof’s legacy and his impact on hip-hop.
