  • Math Teacher Raps Drake’s ‘Nokia’ to Students

Forget boring lectures! An Indiana math teacher is making waves online for her incredibly creative way of welcoming students back to school. Natalie Kaczmarski, affectionately known as Miss Kacz, has gone viral after rapping her own back-to-school rap over Drake’s hit song ‘Nokia’.

    A Viral Classroom Performance

In a clip that has amassed over 134,000 likes on TikTok, Miss Kacz is seen hyping up her class with an energetic performance. As the instrumental of Drake’s chart-topping track plays, she raps, “Who’s ready for a class / Geometry / Is it honors / Is it algebra / Is it math lab…” Her enthusiasm is infectious, setting a positive and engaging tone for the new academic year.

Drake himself has yet to respond to the viral moment, but social media is flooding the teacher’s comments with encouragement and praise for her innovative teaching method. The song ‘Nokia,’ featured on Drake and PartyNextDoor’s 2024 joint album $ome $exy $ongs 4 U, was a major hit, reaching No. 1 on the Billboard Rhythmic charts.

    A Tradition of Hip-Hop Reimagined

This isn’t the first time Miss Kacz has used hip-hop hits to connect with her students. Last September, she went viral with a reimagining of Drake’s “Rich Baby Daddy,” which garnered over 19 million views on TikTok. Her tradition of rewriting popular songs into lighthearted classroom introductions began five years ago.

These creative introductions often weave in classroom rules, expectations, and even previews of the math curriculum. By adopting this approach, which she describes as requiring vulnerability, Miss Kacz aims to show her students that she’s a real person, fostering a more relatable and trusting environment. She previously remixed tracks like 21 Savage and Drake’s “Mr. Right Now” in 2023.

    Making Math Relatable

The outpouring of support from students, parents, and colleagues has only fueled Miss Kaczmarski’s dedication to teaching and making math accessible and engaging. Her innovative methods demonstrate a powerful way to connect with students and make learning an exciting experience.
