The hip-hop world is buzzing as Consequence has openly declared himself a superior rapper to Pusha T. The rapper, also known as the 192 Records boss, has been vocal about his issues with Pusha T, particularly regarding his past interactions with their mutual collaborator, Kanye West. Consequence’s recent comments to TMZ Hip Hop in Manhattan have only intensified this ongoing feud.
A Bold Claim: “Number One Pen”
When asked directly if he’s a better MC than Pusha T, Consequence didn’t hold back. “Well, I have the number one pen. It’s not number two, it’s not number three, it’s not no other number,” he confidently stated. He didn’t stop there, proceeding to mock one of Pusha T’s recent memorable lines: “And besides that, didn’t he tell y’all, ‘Yellow diamonds look like pee-pee’?” This jab refers to Pusha T’s opening verse on “Ace Trumpets.”
Consequence signed off by promoting new artists from his label, but not before throwing one last diss, calling Pusha T an “old guy” and highlighting the younger talent he has coming up. This public challenge suggests Consequence might be gearing up for a lyrical war with the Clipse frontman.
The History of the Beef
This isn’t the first time Consequence has targeted Pusha T. Previously, during an interview with Hot 97, Consequence revealed alleged text messages from a group chat involving himself, Kanye West, and Pusha T. In these messages, Kanye reportedly expressed discomfort with Pusha T feuding with Drake, stating it was causing “harm” to him and his family. Pusha T allegedly apologized for causing “trauma” but maintained his actions were to protect his “family and the brand.”
Consequence views Pusha T’s actions as dishonest and marketing-driven, questioning his sincerity given the alleged apology to Kanye. He believes Pusha T is a “liar” for continuing to diss Kanye during the rollout for “Let God Sort Em Out.” This animosity reportedly dates back to the early 2010s, with Consequence accusing Pusha T of biting his style.
