  • Baby Blue on Scary Movie 6 & Cancel Culture

The iconic ‘Scary Movie’ franchise is making a comeback with its sixth installment, and the stars are aligning! At a special screening event for ‘Scary Movie 6’ in Atlanta, Pretty Ricky’s own Baby Blue Whoaaaa sat down with Hollywood Unlocked to discuss the film’s return, the controversial topic of ‘cancel culture,’ and a friendly (or perhaps not-so-friendly) jab from B2K’s Lil Fizz.

The Wayans Brothers, Marlon and Shawn, are bringing their signature blend of comedy back to the big screen with ‘Scary Movie 6,’ set to premiere on June 5th. The film promises to skewer everything from reboots and remakes to the latest horror trends, all while aiming to ‘cancel cancel culture’ itself.

Praising the Wayans and Criticizing ‘Cancel Culture’

Baby Blue expressed his excitement for the Wayans Brothers’ return, particularly praising Marlon’s long-standing career. “I love that they’re a Black family that’s really holding it down in Hollywood,” he shared, emphasizing their journey from humble beginnings to success. He sees them as true inspirations who have paved the way for others.

However, Blue didn’t hold back when it came to ‘cancel culture.’ He voiced frustration over what he perceives as overly critical fans dictating artists’ careers. “You can’t really be too opinionated over an artist’s craft, because it’s still art at the end of the day,” he stated, referencing criticism leveled at Chris Brown’s recent album. He longs for an era focused on artist development rather than instant judgment.

Addressing the B2K vs. Pretty Ricky Debate

The conversation then turned to Lil Fizz’s recent comment suggesting B2K is a bigger group than Pretty Ricky. Fresh off their successful ‘Millennium Tour,’ Baby Blue responded with a confident analogy. “It’s like an iPhone, right? You got an iPhone 10 or whatever, when the iPhone 11 upgrade comes, you ain’t checking for the 10 no more. Pretty Ricky to upgrade, baby.”

He believes the fans have made their voices heard, siding with Pretty Ricky. “The fans really let him know what it is, and if you read in the comments of everybody that reposted that, they let you know what time it is,” Blue added, suggesting that Pretty Ricky has consistently delivered for their fanbase.

The Future of Touring and Art

Looking ahead, Baby Blue hinted at the possibility of Pretty Ricky embarking on their own tour next year, following the success of ‘The Millennium Tour.’ He emphasized the joy of connecting with fans and delivering great shows.

His critique of ‘cancel culture’ also touched on the democratization of opinions via social media. “The social media gave everybody opinion that don’t deserve an opinion,” he lamented, advocating for a return to valuing expertise and the craft of artistry. He believes opinions should come from those who have already achieved what one aspires to.

  • B2K’s Lil Fizz: Pretty Ricky Isn’t On Our Level

The early 2000s R&B scene was dominated by some incredible groups, and B2K and Pretty Ricky were definitely at the forefront. Fresh off their successful ‘The Millennium Tour Presents: The Boys 4 Life Tour,’ it seems the friendly competition might be heating up. B2K’s Lil Fizz recently sat down with Cam Newton and made some waves by stating that Pretty Ricky simply isn’t on the same level as his group.

    Lil Fizz’s Bold Comparison

During an appearance on the ‘Funky Friday’ podcast, Lil Fizz discussed B2K’s legacy and their recent tour. When the topic turned to other legendary groups, and Pretty Ricky was mentioned as an example, Fizz didn’t hold back. He stated, “Pretty Ricky came after us, bro. That’s the bros. But, you’re not gonna put them on our level. Not going to do that.” He elaborated, emphasizing the differences in their style, performance, and origin, noting, “They don’t dance like us. They nothing like us. They some Florida n***as and they got some heat, but they not us. We from two sides, different sides of the world. We from Cali. They from Florida. It’s different. They not us.”

Fizz doubled down, asserting, “Pound-for-pound they ain’t f**king with us, period. You see who closing the show. That’s all I’mma say.” This statement clearly positions B2K as the headliners and, in his view, the superior act.

    The Reactions Roll In

Unsurprisingly, Lil Fizz’s comments didn’t go unnoticed by the members of Pretty Ricky. Pleasure P, Spectacular, and Baby Blue Whoaaaa all took to social media to fire back. Pleasure P playfully dismissed Fizz’s claims, suggesting he was smoking too much, while Spectacular directly challenged Fizz to a Verzuz battle, stating, “Run the @verzuztv and don’t duck the fade. Pretty Ricky want all the smoke!!!!” Baby Blue Whoaaaa simply responded with a series of laughing emojis.

The call for a Verzuz battle was echoed by others. Bow Wow, who co-headlined the tour with B2K, jumped in, tweeting, “Yo @verzuztv get the deal done! I’m Don King. 👑 Pretty Ricky vs B2K for the culture. I’m hosting the VERZUZ.” Lil Scrappy also weighed in, acknowledging that while he loves both groups, he felt Pretty Ricky held their own on the tour, adding, “nobody left while they was performing fr.” Even Raz B, a member of B2K, seemed to hint at the headliner status being a factor in Fizz’s perspective.

    A Legacy of Hits

Both B2K and Pretty Ricky have undeniable catalogs filled with hits that defined an era. B2K brought us tracks like “Bump, Bump, Bump,” “Girlfriend,” and “Uh Huh.” Pretty Ricky countered with anthems such as “Grind On Me,” “On the Hotline,” and “Your Body.” The debate over who is ‘better’ is subjective and likely to continue among fans.

While Lil Fizz believes B2K holds the edge, the passionate responses from Pretty Ricky and the enthusiasm for a potential Verzuz battle show that both groups have a significant and dedicated fanbase. It’s clear that the music and the memories these groups created are still very much alive and celebrated.
