Dame Dash has a knack for making headlines, and his latest comments are no exception. In a recent sit-down with The Art Of Dialogue, the former Roc-A-Fella head discussed his past perceptions of music icons Beyoncé and Kelly Rowland, revealing a distinct difference in how he viewed them.
The ‘Kid’ Perception of Beyoncé
When it comes to Beyoncé, Dame Dash stated he simply “can’t unsee” her as the 16-year-old he knew. He explained that this image of her as a teenager prevented him from ever developing romantic feelings or considering pursuing her, even when she wasn’t yet an item with Jay-Z. He contrasted this with his pursuit of models like Naomi Campbell at the time.
He was quite direct, saying, “I don’t care about Beyonce. She’s a kid to me. I wasn’t even thinking about Beyonce.” This perspective highlights how formative years can leave a lasting impression, shaping how individuals are perceived years later, regardless of their current status.
A Different Impression of Kelly Rowland
However, Dame’s feelings were quite different when it came to Kelly Rowland, who is the same age as Beyoncé. Dash admitted that his impression of Rowland evolved, and he found himself attracted to her. He candidly stated, “Kelly Rowland, though. I’ve actually seen her and been like, ‘I would mess with her.’”
Beyond the Beyoncé/Kelly Comments
This isn’t the first time Dame Dash has spoken about his past with the women of Destiny’s Child. He’s previously addressed rumors of him pursuing Beyoncé, consistently denying any romantic intentions due to their age difference and his perception of her as a young individual.
The interview also touched on other topics, including Dash’s controversial opinions on Jay-Z’s debut album, “Reasonable Doubt.” He argued that the album isn’t as relevant as some believe, particularly to younger generations, and claimed it doesn’t sell well, which he cited as a reason for trying to sell his ownership stake.
