Kandi Burruss is setting the record straight about her divorce from Todd Tucker. After finalizing their split and custody agreement, Burruss sat down with The Breakfast Club to clear up misconceptions and shed light on the terms of their settlement. Contrary to some reports, the reality star emphasized that the divorce was amicable and that Tucker is not walking away with a significant portion of her assets.
Joint Custody and Clear Communication
The former couple has agreed to joint physical and legal custody of their two children, 6-year-old Blaze and 10-year-old Ace. Burruss clarified on the show that reports of a different custody arrangement were untrue, stressing the importance of joint decision-making for their children’s well-being. The agreement mandates open communication between the parents regarding health, education, and overall welfare.
While Burruss will have the final say on non-emergency healthcare and educational matters, Tucker will have authority over decisions concerning new extracurricular activities. Both parents must also seek written consent before involving their children in any public-facing media projects or commercial opportunities, a crucial clause given their high-profile careers.
The $426K Lump Sum Explained
Addressing the financial aspects, Burruss confirmed she will not be paying child or spousal support to Tucker. However, she will provide a one-time lump sum payment of $426,000. Burruss explained this payment is to balance the division of assets, particularly real estate, where she retained more properties. “It’s just because I ended up with more on the property side, then I just paid the difference of. So, it’s not like I had to pay him,” she clarified, emphasizing that the division aims for equal equity.
Transparency in the Process
Burruss also reflected on Tucker’s decision not to seal the divorce proceedings. Initially confused by the request, she now understands his desire for clarity and to dispel rumors that he was trying to take everything she had. “He just felt like he wanted it to be clear,” Burruss stated, noting that discussions about fighting a prenup were never part of their conversations with her.
The settlement also details the division of other assets, including credit card reward points and specific vehicles. Burruss will retain several cars, including a Bentley SUV and a Porsche Cayenne, while Tucker will keep a Mercedes G-Wagon and a Range Rover, among others. They have also agreed to sell a jointly owned food truck.
Moving Forward
Burruss initially filed for divorce in November 2025, ending their 11-year marriage. The finalized agreement ensures a clear path forward for both Burruss and Tucker, particularly concerning their children. Tucker is also required to vacate a guest home owned by Burruss within 15 days of the parenting agreement being signed, following a previous claim by Burruss that he was residing there without paying rent during the divorce proceedings.
