  • Tyrese Says He’d Nail Ginuwine’s ‘Pony’

Let’s talk about a 90s R&B anthem: Ginuwine’s “Pony.” It’s a track that defined an era, right? Well, according to Tyrese, he believes he could have taken that iconic 1996 hit to an even higher level if the song had come his way.

    Tyrese’s Bold Claim About ‘Pony’

In a recent clip, while grooving to Ginuwine’s classic, Tyrese, sporting a Death Row Records jacket, declared that he would have absolutely crushed it. “This what [happens] when chocolate does ‘Pony’ This is the way Ginuwine shoulda did it,” he stated.

He elaborated, saying, “If I was around and Timbaland had pressed play on me with that song ‘Pony,’ I woulda definitely, definitely did way better on the song and the video than Ginuwine.” Tyrese even boasted about his dancing skills, adding, “Dancing is my s–t. I stopped dancing, I was like, ‘Imma gon let ’em have it. Imma gon let ’em have that.’”

    A Friendly Rivalry?

While the video had a lighthearted vibe, Tyrese playfully admitted he was “coming for Ginuwine’s spot.” It’s all in good fun, of course, especially considering they are part of the R&B supergroup TGT (Tank, Ginuwine & Tyrese).

Before showing off his moves, Tyrese made sure to hype up TGT’s upcoming shows. He promised sold-out crowds and a fantastic time, reminding fans that the group is still very much active and ready to deliver.

  • Ginuwine & Dru Hill Electrify Yaamava’ Casino Stage

The Yaamava’ Resort & Casino in San Manuel, California, recently transformed into a portal to the 1990s R&B era, hosting an unforgettable night headlined by Ginuwine and Dru Hill. The concert proved that these veteran artists still possess the showmanship, vocal talent, and charisma to command a stage and captivate an audience, even after decades in the industry.

    Ginuwine Seduces the Audience

Kicking off the evening, Ginuwine delivered a performance filled with his signature sexy, intimate stylings. Backed by a talented live band and dancers in all-white attire, the crooner seduced the excited crowd with a setlist of fan favorites and career hits. Women in the audience, from the front row to the back balcony, were captivated by his passionate delivery and infectious charisma.

Ginuwine performed hits like “Stingy,” “Freaking You,” “Same Ol’ G,” and a heartfelt tribute to Aaliyah with “Miss You.” He also reminisced about his debut hit single “Pony,” giving a shout-out to Timbaland and the late Static Major for their collaboration. “We created magic. We created a great song. I’m thankful for that. I’m blessed and I’m appreciative all the time,” he shared, highlighting the enduring impact of his music.

Dru Hill Continues the Nostalgic Affair

Following a slightly longer-than-expected intermission, Dru Hill took the stage, continuing the nostalgic journey. Led by Sisqó, the group—also featuring Nokio, Smoke, and former Playa member Black—delivered a nearly hour-long set that emphasized showmanship and vocal talent. They playfully jabbed at younger fans who might not be accustomed to live, unadulterated R&B vocals, proudly stating, “It’s called singing. These microphones are on.”

Dru Hill’s setlist included fan favorites like “Tell Me,” “5 Steps,” “In My Bed,” and “We’re Not Making Love No More.” Smoke delivered a soulful solo cover of D’Angelo’s “Untitled (How Does It Feel),” and the show concluded with Sisqó’s theatrical performance of “Thong Song,” providing a perfect, swagger-filled ending to the evening.

A Testament to Longevity and Respect

Both Ginuwine and Dru Hill proved that their music and performances have stood the test of time. They maintained audience attention not by dwelling on past glories, but by presenting themselves as respected veterans who continue to create on their own terms. Their talent and showmanship allowed them to remain relevant stars, earning the audience’s reverence and applause.

The concert was a powerful reminder of the enduring appeal of classic R&B and the importance of artists who prioritize skill and performance. Ginuwine and Dru Hill certainly earned their respect, delivering an evening filled with talent, swagger, and unforgettable memories.
