It looks like FKA Twigs and Shia LaBeouf are back in the legal spotlight. The singer has filed a new complaint against her ex-partner, challenging the enforceability of a nondisclosure agreement (NDA) that she argues shouldn’t stand.
Challenging the NDA
In court documents filed on March 25th, FKA Twigs, whose real name is Tahliah Barnett, is asking a judge to block parts of the NDA. She contends that these specific clauses violate California law and public policy. This move comes years after her initial 2020 lawsuit where she accused LaBeouf of sexual battery, assault, and emotional distress – a case that was settled in July 2025.
According to the new complaint, LaBeouf has accused Barnett of breaching the NDA following an interview she gave in 2024. Her attorney, Matthew Rosengart, stated that this action is being taken “to right a wrong” and also “on behalf of other women who are the victims of sexual and domestic violence.”
Seeking Justice for Survivors
Rosengart emphasized that FKA Twigs isn’t seeking any financial or professional gain from this legal battle. The goal, he explained, is to “ensure that survivors of sexual misconduct are not bullied or silenced like she was.” This legal challenge is now before the Los Angeles Superior Court, with Barnett asking the judge to make a definitive ruling on the NDA’s enforceability.
For a quick recap, FKA Twigs and Shia LaBeouf dated from 2018 after meeting on the set of the film ‘Honey Boy.’ Their relationship was relatively short-lived, ending in 2019. LaBeouf has previously denied the allegations made against him in the earlier lawsuit.
