Deyjah Harris, the eldest daughter of rapper T.I., has officially joined the esteemed ranks of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. The momentous occasion took place at Clark Atlanta University (CAU), where Harris, a sophomore, crossed into the historic sisterhood alongside 34 of her peers in a vibrant probate ceremony.
A Royal Entrance and a Meaningful Name
The ceremony was a spectacular display of Divine 9 traditions infused with Atlanta’s unique flair. Deyjah made a grand entrance to her father’s hit song ‘Bring Em’ Out,’ captivating the audience with her performance in the sorority’s signature crimson and white colors. She added her own signature touch with a stunning split at the end of her introduction.
More than just a celebratory moment, Deyjah’s initiation carried deep emotional significance. She revealed her line name, ‘Precious Heir,’ a touching tribute to her late aunt, Precious Harris, who was also a devoted member of Delta Sigma Theta. Precious Harris, a beloved family figure, tragically passed away in 2019. By choosing this name, Deyjah honors her aunt’s legacy and continues a family tradition.
Evolving into a Confident Leader
Deyjah is currently pursuing a degree in speech communications and rhetoric at CAU, a path influenced by her personal journey and desire for change. She previously garnered national attention for her openness about mental health struggles, sharing her decade-long battle with depression and anxiety in a vulnerable YouTube video at just 18 years old.
Her transparency resonated deeply with many young people of color. Deyjah is now channeling this advocacy into ‘The Safe Space,’ a brand she is developing focused on healing and collective empowerment. Her emergence as a confident young woman marks a significant evolution, especially following public scrutiny over past comments made by her father regarding her personal life.
A New Chapter of Sisterhood and Advocacy
Deyjah’s induction into Delta Sigma Theta marks a new chapter, one where she embraces sisterhood and continues her commitment to advocacy. Her journey reflects a growing trend of young women using their platforms to promote mental wellness and positive change within their communities.
