It seems the legal drama between Porsha Williams and her ex-husband, Simon Guobadia, is far from over. The Real Housewives of Atlanta star is back in court, this time requesting that Simon be held in contempt for allegedly failing to meet significant financial obligations stemming from their divorce.
Allegations of Non-Payment
According to a petition filed this week, Porsha claims Simon has ignored crucial terms outlined in their June final divorce judgment. These alleged failures include payments for alimony, attorney’s fees, home expenses, and property taxes, totaling over $667,000.
Porsha’s legal team argues that this non-payment demonstrates a “knowing, intentional, and ongoing disregard for this Court’s authority and the Final Judgment it issued.” They are also seeking for him to forfeit his equity stake in their former marital home.
Simon Guobadia’s Response
However, Simon Guobadia insists that Porsha’s filing is premature. In a statement, he expressed surprise at the new filings, noting that the divorce action has been closed and the matter is currently before the Georgia Court of Appeals.
He stated, “We filed a timely appeal (30 days) of the judge’s decision, and I’m sure opposing counsel is aware that a higher court has to rule on the merits of the appeal before a lower court would entertain any ‘new’ court filings.” Simon dismissed the filings as mere “toilet tissue for the public’s consumption.”
Background of the Divorce
Porsha Williams and Simon Guobadia tied the knot in 2022. Their marriage lasted 15 months before they filed for divorce in early 2024, with the split being finalized in June 2025. Earlier this year, Simon was also detained by ICE and subsequently deported to Nigeria.
As of now, a judge has yet to rule on Porsha’s contempt petition. The legal battle continues to unfold.
