  • Karen Huger Released From Jail; Cameras Rolling

The Grand Dame is back! Karen Huger, a prominent star of ‘The Real Housewives of Potomac,’ has reportedly been granted an early release from jail. Adding to the drama, Bravo cameras were allegedly present to capture her departure from the Montgomery County Detention Center in Maryland.

An Early Release with a Camera Crew

Huger, 62, was released today after serving a portion of her sentence for a DUI arrest. While initially sentenced to two years with one year suspended, reports indicate she received an early release. Journalist Matthew Torres tweeted that Bravo production crews were on-site, capturing the moments of Huger’s release, including her getting her hair and makeup done by her glam squad before heading home. ABC 7 was also reportedly live on the scene.

After exiting the detention center, Huger entered a black Escalade, waved to reporters, and was then driven away. The presence of cameras suggests this event may be incorporated into future episodes of ‘The Real Housewives of Potomac.’

    The DUI Incident and Sentencing

Huger’s legal troubles stemmed from an incident on March 19, 2024, when she crashed her Maserati into a pole. A jury found her guilty on five charges, including driving under the influence (DUI), negligent driving, failure to control speed, and failure to notify authorities of an address change. She was acquitted of reckless driving and subsequently entered rehab.

Despite her legal team’s request for a six-month sentence, the court cited the incident as her fourth DUI, leading to a sentence of two years in jail with one year suspended, handed down in February. At the time of the accident, Huger told TMZ she was driving in an “emotional state” after discussing sensitive topics related to her late mother with a friend over dinner and champagne.

    Bodycam Footage and Personal Struggles

Police bodycam footage released later showed Huger swaying and slurring her words, denying excessive alcohol consumption, with one officer noting she appeared “hammered.” Huger attributed the crash to a mix of her antidepressant medication and alcohol. In January, she entered a 28-day inpatient rehabilitation program in Florida to address alcohol abuse, over-reliance on antidepressants, and trauma from a college sexual assault.
