  • Big Sean & Usher Invest $1M in Detroit Youth

Get ready for some inspiring news straight out of Detroit! Two music heavyweights, Big Sean and Usher, are teaming up to make a significant impact on the lives of local kids. They’re investing a cool $1 million to create a brand-new production facility aimed at nurturing the next generation of creative talent in the city.

    The Detroit Entertainment Innovation Incubator

This exciting initiative is called the Detroit Entertainment Innovation Incubator. It’s set to open its doors in February 2026 within the Boys & Girls Club of Southeastern Michigan, located inside the beautifully revamped Michigan Central Station. This isn’t just any space; it’s designed to be a hub of creativity, featuring a state-of-the-art production studio, a special effects lab, and a dedicated creators’ lounge.

For Big Sean, a proud Detroit native, this project hits close to home. He’s spoken about how the city is where his creativity truly blossomed. This new incubator is part of his ongoing commitment to the Boys & Girls Club through his Sean Anderson Foundation, which has already supported the creation of four production studios and community events.

A Legacy of Innovation and Opportunity

Big Sean shared his vision, stating, “My mission has always been to make sure the next generation of dreamers and innovators from my city have the access, tools and mentorship to do the same.” He emphasized that the incubator is about showing young people they don’t need to leave Detroit to find opportunity – they can build it right there.

Usher’s New Look Foundation is also a key partner in this venture, alongside Ilitch Sports + Entertainment and Emory University’s Goizueta Business School. Usher expressed his honor in being part of a collective effort to support these young talents, noting, “It takes just one person to believe in your success.”

    Transforming Talent into Generational Wealth

Shawn H. Wilson, CEO of the Boys & Girls Club of Southeastern Michigan, highlighted the significance of this collaboration. He sees Detroit as a historical blueprint for innovation, from the automotive industry to Motown. This partnership, he believes, extends that legacy by demonstrating that the creative economy can be a pathway to ownership and equity for local youth.

Together, with our amazing partners, we’re transforming talent into capital and creativity into generational wealth. — Shawn H. Wilson, CEO of the Southeastern Michigan Boys & Girls Club

This incredible investment by Big Sean and Usher is more than just funding; it’s a powerful statement about believing in Detroit’s youth and providing them with the resources to thrive and build a brighter future right in their own community.
