  • Lil Tjay Recalls Waking Up From Coma After Shooting

It’s hard to imagine the sheer terror of being shot multiple times and then waking up with no memory of what happened. That’s the harrowing reality Lil Tjay faced after a brutal attempted robbery in 2022. The New York rapper, whose real name is Tione Merritt, is now sharing his experience of emerging from a coma, a journey that profoundly changed his perspective.

    A Confusing Awakening

In a recent interview with Mornings With Mero, Lil Tjay recounted the surreal moment he woke up. He had no idea he had been unconscious for a full week. A nurse named Lauren was the first to greet him, gently informing him that he hadn’t been looking well the previous week.

“It didn’t feel like nothing,” Tjay recalled. “I didn’t even know what happened. I didn’t even know where I was at.” The disconnect between his perception and the reality of his critical condition must have been incredibly disorienting.

    From Invincible to Vulnerable

Before the shooting, Lil Tjay admitted he felt a sense of invincibility. He believed he was untouchable, capable of doing whatever he pleased without consequence. This mindset, common among many young artists, was shattered by the violent incident.

“The fact that I took any type of L or anything even happened to me that I didn’t plan, I was just like, ‘Oh sh*t, I could be just like anybody else,’” he shared. This realization marked a significant shift, forcing him to confront his own mortality and vulnerability.

A New Approach to Career and Life

This life-altering experience has led Tjay to approach his career with much more intention and care. He’s become more mindful of his choices, understanding the fragility of life and the importance of safety. It’s a powerful reminder that no one is truly immune to the dangers of the world.

Meanwhile, the legal proceedings continue, with Mohamed Konate reportedly facing charges including attempted murder and armed robbery in connection with the incident. The focus remains on Lil Tjay’s recovery and his newfound appreciation for life.
