  • Cardi B Calls Out Angela Yee Over Interview

It seems the ongoing feud between Cardi B and Nicki Minaj has spilled over into new territory. Cardi B recently revealed on Twitter Spaces that she had a direct conversation with radio host Angela Yee about an interview Yee conducted with Armon Wiggins, who Cardi B claims is biased against her.

    A Heated Phone Call

The drama unfolded after Armon Wiggins appeared on ‘Way Up With Angela Yee’ to discuss the long-standing beef between the two female rappers. Cardi B wasted no time in expressing her disapproval, leading to a phone call with Yee. During the call, Cardi B made it clear she felt Yee should have been more aware of Wiggins’ alleged animosity towards her.

“I told her, ‘Angela Yee, if you know that this guy don’t like me…’” Cardi B recounted. “She was like, ‘I didn’t know that he doesn’t like you.’ I was like, ‘Yes, you know that he don’t like me. Everybody knows this. You have somebody that you don’t watch their content?’” Cardi B emphasized that Yee should have done her own research rather than relying on someone with a known bias.

    Concerns Over Bias and Children

Cardi B stressed the importance of journalistic integrity, especially when sensitive topics are involved. “Don’t have somebody that’s biased towards me, that calls me a b*tch out his mouth, that only says negative things about me,” she stated. She believes Yee should have conducted her own due diligence, particularly when the feud escalated to involve their children.

The rapper’s frustration stems from the fact that their feud, which reignited last month after the release of Cardi B’s album ‘Invasion of Privacy,’ recently involved personal attacks on their children. Nicki Minaj’s comment about Cardi B’s daughter Kulture led to a fiery response from Cardi B, although both artists eventually issued backhanded apologies regarding the children.

    A History of Public Feuds

The rivalry between Cardi B and Nicki Minaj has been a prominent narrative in hip-hop for years. While they have had public spats and moments of reconciliation, the recent escalation involving their families highlights the intense nature of their relationship. Cardi B’s confrontation with Angela Yee underscores her commitment to controlling her narrative and ensuring fairness in media coverage.

  • Charlamagne Tha God on Angela Yee’s ‘Breakfast Club’ Exit

It’s been three years since Angela Yee officially departed from ‘The Breakfast Club’ (TBC), the hugely popular radio platform she co-hosted with DJ Envy and Charlamagne Tha God (CTG). Yet, the impact of her exit continues to be a topic of discussion among fans and listeners. Recently, Charlamagne Tha God weighed in on the matter during an interview with hip-hop journalist DJ Vlad, addressing whether Yee’s departure helped or hurt the show’s legacy.

    An Inconclusive Impact?

Charlamagne Tha God described the question as “fantastic” and offered a nuanced perspective. “I think that’s inconclusive,” he stated. “I don’t think it helps or hurts, you know? I think that that was an era.” He emphasized the significance of their original trio, noting, “Angela was with us, what, 12 years, 13 years? Like, we launched ‘The Breakfast Club’ together. Nobody can ever tell me anything bad about Angela Yee in regards to ‘The Breakfast Club,’ because when we started in 2010, us three individuals… that is who God put in that position to be that show, and that show had tremendous success.”

Launched in 2010, TBC became a cultural phenomenon, known for its candid interviews with major hip-hop and R&B artists, and for generating significant controversy and memorable moments. From the infamous Birdman “respeck” incident to interviews with Ray J and DMX that became ingrained in hip-hop lore, TBC was a crucial platform for artists promoting their work or addressing public narratives.

    Angela Yee’s New Chapter

The news of Angela Yee’s departure in late 2022 sent ripples through the pop culture landscape. The public reason for her exit was the opportunity to host her own show on the iHeartMedia network, ‘Way Up with Angela Yee,’ a move she had reportedly desired for years. “I left ‘The Breakfast Club’ because I got my own show,” Yee explained in an interview with Math Hoffa. “I think anybody would want to branch off and have a show with their name on it.”

She expressed gratitude for the opportunity after 12 years on TBC, stating, “I’m just grateful that it finally happened.” Both Yee’s new show and TBC have continued to operate successfully, often syndicated back-to-back in many markets.

The Show’s Evolution and Future Vision

Charlamagne Tha God sees Yee’s departure as a positive step for everyone involved. “I think that’s what I’ve always envisioned ‘The Breakfast Club’ to be,” he shared. “I’ve always envisioned ‘The Breakfast Club’ to be this hub where different talent can constantly come through and do exactly what Angela Yee is doing right now.”

Following Yee’s exit, TBC added hosts Jess Hilarious and Loren Lorosa, continuing the show’s legacy. Charlamagne believes this evolution ultimately benefits everyone: “Did it help or hurt? I don’t think it helped or hurt. I think that it just, you know, enabled us to be able to bring on, now, two new talents who are having, you know, success in their own right.” He concluded, “Like, I think it to me, it helps. It helped everybody. It helped Angela. It helps ‘The Breakfast Club,’ to me, personally.”
