It appears the divorce proceedings between former NBA star Dwight Howard and his estranged wife, Amy Luciani, have taken a serious turn. A Georgia judge has granted Howard a temporary protective order against Luciani, requiring her to maintain a significant distance from him and their children.
Allegations and the Protective Order
The order, signed this Tuesday, mandates that Luciani (whose legal name is Amber Howard) must stay at least 100 yards away from Dwight, two of their children, their Georgia home, and the children’s school. This comes after Howard accused Luciani of making threats during a visit to his house on April 5th, following a six-week separation.
According to court documents, Howard alleges that Luciani threatened to physically harm him, stating she threatened to “punch” him in the throat. He also claims she threatened the safety of others, saying she’d “kill whoever was in the car” with him. Howard further accused her of attempting to interfere with his custody rights and engaging in a pattern of harassment and excessive jealousy.
Reputation Damage and Financial Impact
The former Los Angeles Lakers player also stated that Luciani has damaged his reputation by posting allegations online about him being abusive and struggling with drug use. Howard claims these public accusations have led to financial losses, stating, “I’ve lost money and deals” as a result.
In response to Howard’s claims, the judge granted him temporary exclusive use of the home he shared with Luciani and awarded him temporary possession of a 2015 Mercedes. These measures are in place pending further court proceedings.
Luciani Denies Allegations
Amy Luciani has vehemently denied Howard’s allegations, calling the protective order “completely false” in a statement. She suggested that Howard is using the order as a retaliatory measure to conceal his own alleged wrongdoings. The situation remains tense, with a hearing scheduled for April 13th to further address the matter.
