  • RHOP Season 10, Ep 2: Drama & Deception

The fallout from Ashley’s Bloom Ball is still rippling through Potomac, and if you thought things were settling down, think again! Season 10, Episode 2, aptly titled “Mint To Be Shady,” proves that peace is merely a suggestion in this group, while pettiness reigns supreme. From explosive divorce papers to friendships on the brink and even whispers of fraud, the ladies are serving up all the drama.

    Stacey Rusch: Villain or Underdog?

Stacey Rusch continues to be a polarizing figure. Whether she’s the villain or the underdog seems to depend on who you ask, but one thing’s for sure: she’s refreshingly unserious. Her blend of defensiveness and delusion, coupled with a refusal to over-explain herself, is almost like a spiritual practice in this franchise. At Ashley’s party, she even claimed Nigerian heritage, delivering it with her signature humor.

The Bloom Ball itself took an unexpected turn with a confusing striptease performance that left the audience baffled. The next day, Stacey attempted to play peacemaker at Wendy’s home, but when asked about her situation with TJ, she dodged the question with classic Rusch flair. Honestly, if TJ was hired as her boyfriend, he deserves compensation for bad acting alone!

    Surprises, Situationships, and ‘Chin-Checks’

In a move that stunned everyone, Stacey announced she was back with her husband, leaving Wendy’s PhD-level brain seemingly buffering. To add to the surprise, Stacey revealed plans for a cannabis brand, a concept she’d previously denied. Meanwhile, Tia introduced her family and her calm, aware energy, while Ashley showcased her half-sister and prepped for a White House Correspondents’ Dinner with her much younger situationship, Josh.

Angel and her husband shared a sweet moment discussing their living situation, positioning Angel as the neutral “Switzerland” of the group. But the real shocker came when Kierna invited Gizelle over and insisted she had “chin-checked” Angel. Gizelle, and likely all of America, was left speechless, muttering, “We don’t do that to friends.”

Truth & Tranquilitea Party: A Failed Attempt at Peace

Angel’s Truth & Tranquilitea Party was meant to be a healing moment, but as expected, it wasn’t. Wendy and Kierna feigned friendship, while Gizelle confessed a preference for “lies and foolishness” over truth. The tape rolled, confirming Kierna’s “chin-check” comments about Angel, much to everyone’s dismay.

The breath jokes, stemming from last week’s “halitosis” storyline, were juvenile but undeniably present. Stacey, however, handled the jabs with grace, even leading a collective cleansing breath during the sound bath, prompting Gizelle to whisper, “Has she put a mint in?” Despite the drama, some heartfelt moments emerged, with Angel praising Kierna and Tia thanking Gizelle.

More Receipts and a Bombshell Ending

As the episode wound down, Ashley pulled Stacey aside for a rematch over divorce papers, presenting receipts that Gizelle deemed questionable and “homemade.” Later, Gizelle, Ashley, and Kierna (with Cookie, Karen Huger’s correspondent) discussed Karen’s absence, learning she’s in an alcohol program. But just as they were about to toast, Cookie announced she was receiving a message from Chris Samuels. The episode ended on a cliffhanger as Ashley dropped a bombshell: Stacey has allegedly been trying to get with Chris Samuels. Bravo, you know exactly how to leave us wanting more!

  • RHOP’s Keiarna: Friendship Drama Unpacked

Friendships on reality TV can be a complex dance, and this season of “The Real Housewives of Potomac” is proving that more than ever. While drama is expected, cast member Keiarna Stewart’s approach to her relationships, particularly with her best friend of over 20 years, Angel Massie, has left many viewers, including myself, a bit confused. It seems Stewart’s desire for her friends to mirror her own feelings is creating more friction than connection.

    High School Vibes in Potomac

This season feels particularly high school-esque, with a focus on perceived slights, the need for constant validation, and friends falling out over seemingly petty issues. While some of this is par for the course in reality television – where drama must be manufactured – Stewart appears to be generating her own conflicts, which is proving to be a wild watch.

While it’s healthy for friends to address issues directly, Stewart’s grievances with Wendy Osefo seem to stem from a desire for more consistent friendship, especially when the cameras aren’t rolling. Small perceived slights, like Osefo not acknowledging Stewart on stage or during conversations, coupled with comments about makeup, feel like a reach. A gentler approach, like expressing feelings of being brushed aside, might have yielded better results than the current path.

The ‘Chin-Check’ Controversy and Shifting Loyalties

The situation escalates when Stewart turns her focus to Angel Massie, the new cast member she introduced to the group. Massie finds herself in Stewart’s doghouse for not reacting as expected to Stewart’s growing resentment towards Osefo. Massie’s attempt to offer perspective – suggesting Osefo might have been preoccupied with sick children – is met with confusion and accusation from Stewart, who questions Massie’s loyalty: “Are you on my side or Wendy’s? Aren’t you my friend of 20 years?”

Stewart’s insistence on a “chin-check” for Massie’s perceived disloyalty is particularly jarring. When confronted by Gizelle Bryant, Stewart initially denies using the term, only to apologize sheepishly later. Even after seeing proof and hearing from others, Massie struggles to believe her longtime friend would speak about her that way. This conflict is further complicated by Stewart’s past physical altercation, making her casual use of terms like “chin-check” seem concerning.

    Controlling Behavior and Hypocrisy

Stewart’s behavior has been consistently confrontational this season, almost as if she’s trying to establish herself as a “big boss” by setting strict rules for how she expects to be treated, especially by those closest to her. This “my way or the highway” attitude feels hypocritical, demanding unwavering support while offering little flexibility in return. Massie was simply trying to offer a different perspective, but Stewart’s reaction – discussing her best friend with others and using language that implied physical confrontation – was controlling and damaging.

The constant denial and eventual grudging apology regarding the “chin-check” incident, followed by Stewart questioning Massie’s actual feelings for Osefo in front of her, created further tension. It’s odd and controlling behavior that ultimately led to Massie clashing with Osefo. While Stewart claims to understand how situations can get “heightened,” her actions suggest she’s more interested in escalating conflict than resolving it.

A Call for Balance and Better TV

While Stewart is a beautiful, successful woman who isn’t afraid to speak her mind – a trait common among the RHOP cast – she needs to learn when to “reel it in.” Her harshness towards her best friend, continuous call-outs of Osefo, and brewing beef with Stacey Rusch feel excessive so early in the series. A good friend doesn’t just blindly support; they offer honest perspectives. Stewart’s approach of talking about her “friend of 20 years” with untrusted castmates was a risky move that backfired.

The shift in Stewart’s energy from bubbly and warm to abrasive and controlling is noticeable. While coming on strong isn’t inherently bad, it shouldn’t come at the expense of genuine friendships or realistic storytelling. Hopefully, Stewart can mend the relationships that matter, particularly with Massie, and choose her battles more wisely. Right now, her storyline is becoming draining rather than good television.
