  • Eminem Honors Proof: 20 Years of Friendship

Twenty years. It’s a significant milestone, and for Eminem, April 11, 2026, marks a deeply poignant one. It’s been two decades since his dear friend, D12 collaborator, and former hype man, Proof, passed away. Eminem, who doesn’t often share personal messages on social media, took to Twitter to share a heartfelt tribute, reminding us all of the powerful bond they shared.

    A Bond Forged in Detroit

In his touching message, Eminem expressed how Proof remains a constant presence in his thoughts. “Not a day goes by that I don’t think about you in some way shape or form…” he wrote. He went on to call Proof one of the greatest friends he’s ever had, expressing gratitude for their connection and believing it happened for a reason.

Eminem vividly recalled their first meeting on the steps of Osborne, handing out flyers. That chance encounter led to an instant rap session and a lifelong friendship. From that moment on, they were inseparable, embarking on an incredible journey together in the music industry.

    Proof’s Lasting Impact

The Detroit legend credited Proof with significantly influencing his career trajectory. He highlighted Proof’s unwavering belief in him, their shared ambition, and how he helped boost Eminem’s self-esteem and confidence. Proof’s early cosigns at clubs and open mics were crucial in opening doors and minds to Eminem’s talent.

This enduring friendship continues to resonate. The release of the soundtrack for the STANS documentary on Slim Shady, with his estate now controlling his posthumous releases, has allowed more fans to connect with Proof’s music. As long as Eminem remains an iconic figure in hip-hop, Proof’s legacy is sure to live on.

    Remembering Other Legends

He paid respects to the legendary radio host and rapper Lord Sear, remembering their time together on tour and on Shade45. He described Sear as one of the greatest people to be around, whose humor and presence made the world a better place.

“You were and are still truly one of the greatest friends I ever had in my entire life and I thank God everyday that he put us in each other’s lives…” — Eminem

  • Deborah Cox’s Broadway Return: A Full Circle Moment

Get ready, Broadway! The incredible Deborah Cox is back on the New York stage, and this time, it’s more than just a performance – it’s a full-circle moment honoring a connection that began at the very start of her illustrious career. After her memorable run as Glinda the Good Witch in “The Wiz,” Cox is diving into a new role that’s bringing her even more joy.

A Nod to a Musical Icon

Cox is starring in “Titanique,” a hilarious musical parody of the blockbuster 1997 film “Titanic.” While the movie itself is iconic, its soundtrack features one of the most recognizable songs of all time: Céline Dion’s “My Heart Will Go On.” And guess who sang background vocals for Dion in the early ’90s? None other than Deborah Cox herself!

Reflecting on her year-long tour with Dion, Cox told PEOPLE, “I was discovering what my musical voice was going to be.” She admired Dion’s discipline, vocal stamina, and kindness, calling her a “really kind boss.” This experience was pivotal, helping Cox decide to leave the tour and pursue her own record deal.

    From Backup Singer to Star

That bold decision paid off. Shortly after leaving the tour, Cox had a chance encounter with music executive Clive Davis, leading to her signing with Arista Records in 1994. While her debut album arrived in 1995, it was her 1998 hit “Nobody’s Supposed To Be Here” that catapulted her to R&B and pop stardom, eventually earning her sophomore album platinum status.

The connection to “My Heart Will Go On” and the “Titanic” theme makes her role in “Titanique” particularly special. It’s a testament to her journey, from supporting another artist to becoming a star in her own right. It’s a true full-circle moment for her as a performer.

    Embracing New Challenges

Cox has built an impressive Broadway resume, including roles in “Aida” and “Jekyll & Hyde.” What keeps her motivated? The thrill of new challenges. “I wanted to come back to Broadway doing something very different,” she explained. “That to me is what keeps me on my toes, keeps me intrigued and happy about new projects to take on.”

She also expressed her love for comedy, citing inspirations like Whoopi Goldberg, Goldie Hawn, and Carol Burnett. “Titanique,” with its comedic take on a beloved film, seems like the perfect fit for this next chapter.

“Titanique” is running for a limited 16-week engagement at the St. James Theatre in New York, with opening night on Sunday, April 12. Alongside Cox, the cast includes Melissa Barrera, Frankie Grande, and Jim Parsons. It’s sure to be a show filled with laughter, music, and a touch of Broadway magic.
