As rapper D4vd, whose legal name is David A. Burke, prepares for a significant court date this week, his legal team has made some unusual requests aimed at refining his appearance. The performer, who has pleaded not guilty and is currently held without bail, is scheduled for a potential preliminary hearing in Los Angeles.
Requests for a Polished Courtroom Look
Last week, D4vd’s attorneys filed motions seeking permission for him to wear specific attire for the Friday hearing: ‘dress pants’ and a ‘button down shirt.’ However, the judge ultimately denied this particular request, opting to maintain standard court appearance protocols.
Interestingly, another motion did receive the judge’s approval. An order was signed directing the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department to ensure D4vd receives a haircut prior to his May 1st court date. This suggests a focus on his presentation for the upcoming proceedings.
The Serious Charges He Faces
The reason for D4vd’s court appearances stems from serious accusations. He was arrested on April 16th, following allegations by prosecutors that he was involved in the death of 14-year-old Celeste Rivas Hernandez. Authorities claim he sexually abused the teen, subsequently murdered her, and dismembered her body.
The investigation into Celeste’s death has been particularly challenging, according to police officials. A significant delay between her suspected death and the discovery of her remains, found inside D4vd’s Tesla sedan last September, meant that crucial physical evidence may have degraded or become irrecoverable. Detectives reportedly served 54 search warrants during the course of the investigation.

Despite the gravity of the charges, D4vd’s lead attorney, Blair Berke, has firmly stated that Burke ‘did not murder’ Celeste and is not responsible for her death. The legal battle is set to continue as the case progresses through the court system.
