Remember Lisa Turtle from ‘Saved by the Bell’? Lark Voorhies brought that iconic character to life in the ’90s, but behind the scenes, the beloved actress faced some truly frightening situations. Her mother recently shared a chilling story about an obsessed fan who went to extreme lengths, highlighting the darker side of fame.
A Fan’s Disturbing Obsession
During an upcoming episode of the docuseries ‘Hollywood Demons,’ titled ‘After the Bell,’ Lark’s mother, Tricia, revealed the unsettling details. She spoke about how some fans can become incredibly dark and fixated, and Lark was unfortunately targeted by one such individual.
This particular fan wasn’t just sending a few autograph requests. Tricia described him as ‘very dark’ and mentioned that he sent Lark numerous letters. These weren’t just fan mail; they contained disturbing declarations of wanting to be Lark’s husband and chilling threats to harm anyone who stood in his way.
Protecting Lark from Danger
The situation was serious enough that Tricia took extreme protective measures. She admitted to not letting Lark answer the door, fearing the obsessed fan might show up. While Tricia aimed to shield her daughter without causing undue fear, she still warned Lark to remain vigilant.
The set of ‘Saved by the Bell’ actually offered a sense of security. Tricia felt it would be ‘harder for him to get to her’ due to the layers of security present on the studio lot. It’s a stark reminder that even with the glitz and glamour of Hollywood, safety concerns were very real.
Lark’s Journey and Resilience
Lark Voorhies, now 52, starred on ‘Saved by the Bell’ from 1989 to 1993. After the show, she continued acting but later faced significant health challenges. She was diagnosed with schizoaffective disorder in 2015 and later revealed she also has bipolar disorder.
Despite these personal struggles, Lark has shown incredible resilience. In her appearance on ‘After the Bell,’ she offered words of encouragement to young women in the industry who might be dealing with mental health issues. Her message is clear: challenges don’t have to define or end your career aspirations.
