  • Trump Wants a Rush Hour Reboot!

Well, this is an unexpected plot twist! It seems Donald Trump’s interests might be shifting from the political arena to the silver screen. Reports are swirling that he’s personally lobbying for the return of a certain iconic action-comedy franchise that defined the late 90s: Rush Hour!

    Trump’s Hollywood Push

Sources suggest that Trump has been urging Paramount Skydance to make a “Rush Hour” revival a top priority, especially if they successfully acquire Warner Bros. Discovery. He’s reportedly not just suggesting it; he’s “personally pressed” the studio to get Jackie Chan and Chris Tucker back together for a much-anticipated fourth film.

Why the sudden interest in this particular franchise? Well, Paramount Skydance is owned by the Ellison family, who Trump is known to be close with. A source close to the situation mentioned that the former President is particularly enthusiastic about this idea, seeing it as a potential win for the studio and fans alike.

    More Than Just Rush Hour?

But Trump’s cinematic wish list doesn’t stop there! He’s also apparently expressed admiration for the 1988 Jean-Claude Van Damme cult classic, “Bloodsport.” This flick, however, is currently part of the Amazon MGM catalogue, so a revival there might be a bit more complicated.

This fondness for high-octane action films aligns with producer Dallas Sonnier’s predictions. He suggested that a Paramount victory could usher in “a wave of classically male-driven movies with mentally tough, traditional, courageous, confident heroes. Maybe even a tad cocky, but dedicated to honor and duty. Plus, of course, a few explosions, gun battles, helicopters, fistfights, and car chases!” Sounds like a recipe for some thrilling blockbusters, right?

    The Stars Weigh In

The original “Rush Hour” premiered back in 1998 and was a massive global hit, raking in over $200 million worldwide. Jackie Chan himself has recently spoken about his openness to a fourth film, though he humorously pointed out the ticking clock. “Hurry up,” he joked, “Otherwise Chris Tucker and me will be 100 years old. We will be old men doing ‘Rush Hour.’”
