Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs is once again in the legal spotlight, this time facing a civil lawsuit in Los Angeles stemming from an alleged balcony attack back in 2016. The case, brought by creative director Bryana “Bana” Bongolan, is now moving towards a trial, adding another layer to the rapper’s recent legal troubles.
Allegations of a Terrifying Incident
Bongolan, who is also a close friend of Cassie Ventura, claims that Diddy entered Cassie’s Los Angeles apartment and forcibly held her over the railing of a 17th-floor balcony. According to the lawsuit, this harrowing ordeal lasted for approximately 10 to 15 seconds before she was allegedly thrown onto patio furniture.
The lawsuit details that Bongolan suffered significant injuries, including bruising and pain in her back and neck, and claims the incident has caused her lasting trauma. This civil case is separate from Diddy’s criminal trial, though Bongolan did testify in that proceeding.
Testimony and Legal Proceedings
During the criminal trial in June 2025, where Cassie Ventura was a key government witness, Bongolan initially invoked her Fifth Amendment right against self-incrimination. However, this led to a judge issuing an immunity order, compelling her to testify. Diddy’s defense team questioned her drug use at the time of the alleged incident, a claim Bongolan denied, stating her motivation was to seek justice.
Upcoming Trial and Diddy’s Current Status
The civil case is currently slated for a trial date of May 3, 2027. Named defendants in this lawsuit include Diddy himself, along with Bad Boy Entertainment LLC and CeOpco LLC. This legal battle unfolds as Diddy is serving time at FCI Fort Dix in New Jersey, with a projected release date of April 15, 2028.
Adding to his legal challenges, Diddy is also appealing his Mann Act conviction and has requested a jury trial in Clayton Howard’s separate $20 million lawsuit. The legal entanglements continue to surround the music mogul.
