Big news from Capitol Hill! Senator Cory Booker has officially tied the knot with his fiancée, Alexis Lewis. The couple celebrated their love in not one, but two beautiful and intimate ceremonies, making their union official less than three months after announcing their engagement. It sounds like a truly special way to start their married life together!
Two Ceremonies, One Unforgettable Union
The journey to the altar was a thoughtful one for Cory, 56, and Alexis, 38. They first made it legally official on November 24th at the U.S. District Court for the District of New Jersey in Newark. Judge Julien Xavier Neals presided over the courthouse ceremony, with their parents there to witness the momentous occasion.
Just a few days later, on Saturday evening, they held a second, family-only ceremony in Washington, D.C. This celebration was particularly meaningful as it beautifully blended both of their faiths. With a Rabbi and a Pastor officiating, the ceremony honored Cory’s Christian background and Alexis’s Jewish heritage, creating a unique and personal experience for everyone involved.
A Love Story Fueled by Music and Connection
The couple shared their joy on Instagram, giving us a peek into their special days. The courthouse ceremony featured Alexis in an elegant white caped gown, while the second ceremony captured them exchanging vows and walking down the aisle. Their heartfelt caption read, “Overflowing with gratitude. We said “I do” in two places that shaped us—Cory’s beloved Newark and Alexis’s hometown of Washington, D.C.—first at the courthouse, then with our families. Hearts full and so grateful,” the Bookers shared.
Their romance blossomed after meeting in May 2024 through a mutual friend known for matchmaking. Cory popped the question on August 24th in Kauai, Hawaii, serenaded by native Hawaiian musicians playing Mariah Carey’s “Dreamlover” – a song Alexis has loved since childhood. Fittingly, Mariah Carey’s music also played a role in their wedding celebrations, with “Emotions” accompanying the tradition of stepping on glass, a nod to Alexis’s Jewish heritage.
Wedding Details and Sweet Touches
Alexis Lewis, a Washington native, is a director of investments at Brasa Capital Management in Los Angeles. She also has a background in public service, having worked on economic development initiatives in the office of former Los Angeles Mayor Eric Garcetti. It’s clear these two share a passion for service and making a difference.
The recessional was accompanied by Whitney Houston’s “How Will I Know,” and guests were treated to delicious wedding cakes: Funfetti, almond with raspberry, and chocolate with chocolate ganache. What a sweet ending to a beautiful celebration!
