  • Eva Mendes’ $20M Net Worth Post-Acting

Eva Mendes, the Cuban legend known for her captivating presence on screen, has successfully transitioned from a blockbuster actress to a respected entrepreneur and devoted mother. Despite stepping back from acting, Mendes maintains a significant cultural relevance and an estimated net worth of $20 million as of 2025, demonstrating that success can indeed evolve.

From Humble Beginnings to Hollywood Stardom

Born and raised in Los Angeles by her Cuban immigrant parents, Mendes lived a relatively modest life before her acting career took off. After studying marketing at California State University, Northridge, she left before graduating to pursue her acting dreams. Early jobs in retail and food service, along with appearances in music videos, grounded her values and fueled her drive.

Her cinematic breakthrough came in 2001 with the instant classic “Training Day,” starring alongside Denzel Washington. This role catapulted her into mainstream success, leading to bigger projects like “2 Fast 2 Furious,” “Hitch,” “Ghost Rider,” and “We Own the Night.” Mendes became known for portraying strong, seductive, and complex characters, earning critical praise for her emotional depth and versatility.

    Pivoting to Successful Business Ventures

Following a conscious decision to step back from acting to focus on motherhood, Mendes strategically pivoted into several lucrative business ventures. She launched the popular Eva by Eva Mendes line with New York & Company, known for its feminine, vintage-inspired styles. Her entrepreneurial spirit also led her to create bed linens and dinnerware for Macy’s and co-own Skura Style, a company specializing in stylish home cleaning products.

Mendes also served as creative director for CIRCA Beauty, a Walgreens-exclusive makeup line focused on inclusivity. She has become an influential voice in fashion and beauty, blending her humble upbringing with her Hollywood experience. Additionally, she authored the children’s book “Desi, Mami & the Never Ending Worries,” a heartfelt tribute to her daughters.

A Private Life with Ryan Gosling and Their Daughters

Mendes met her life partner, Ryan Gosling, on the set of “The Place Beyond the Pines” in 2012. Their on-screen chemistry quickly blossomed into a real-life romance. While they are famously private about their relationship and family life, they are parents to two daughters, Esmeralda Amada and Amada Lee. Motherhood has profoundly shifted Mendes’ priorities, inspiring her decision to step away from the demanding acting industry.

Although she remains active on social media, Mendes largely leads a quieter life offline. She has expressed that while she hasn’t officially retired, she prioritizes raising her children and found that Hollywood roles no longer aligned with her desires, particularly as a Latina actress. However, she remains open to returning for the right project.

  • Trump Blocks Solar & Wind Projects

President Donald Trump is making waves in the energy sector, declaring his administration will put the brakes on new solar and wind energy projects. In a recent Truth Social post on Wednesday, August 20, 2025, Trump voiced his long-standing criticisms of renewables, particularly their land usage.

    Criticism of Renewable Energy Costs

Trump asserted that states heavily reliant on windmills and solar power are experiencing unprecedented increases in electricity and energy costs. He dramatically labeled renewable energy a “SCAM OF THE CENTURY” and vowed, “We will not approve wind or farmer destroying Solar. The days of stupidity are over in the USA.”

These comments come shortly after his administration, led by Interior Secretary Doug Burgum, moved to centralize federal permitting for renewable projects. This shift has sparked concerns among developers about potential delays and stalled approvals.

The ‘One Big Beautiful Bill Act’

Since beginning his second term in January 2025, Trump has focused on clean energy policies, notably signing the “One Big Beautiful Bill Act” on July 4th. This legislation has put a freeze on the $7 billion “Solar For All” program, which aimed to increase renewable energy access for low-income communities.

Furthermore, the bill is set to phase out key tax credits for both wind and solar by 2027. Interior Secretary Doug Burgum stated in a press release that the act is a “historic piece of legislation” designed to “restore energy independence and make life more affordable for American families by reversing disastrous Biden-era policies.”

Debate Over Energy Prices and Supply

Trump attributes the rise in electricity prices to renewables, pointing to the strain on PJM Interconnection, the country’s largest grid. He cited coal plant retirements and increased demand from data centers as factors contributing to a 22% surge in power capacity prices.

However, data from the Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory suggests that solar and battery storage projects, which form the majority of planned developments, are actually the most effective way to address supply-and-demand gaps. Burgum also highlighted the department’s pride in implementing President Trump’s agenda to “get the federal government back to working for the American people.”
