Thompson continued to express his frustration, calling Morant’s bench antics “running his mouth” and suggesting it’s a pattern in his career. He emphasized the importance of star players being on the court and the responsibility that comes with that role, lamenting that Morant seems to be letting other issues get in the way of his game.

Reports suggest the friction might have started earlier in the game when Grizzlies forward Santi Aldama appeared to intentionally trip a player. Thompson reportedly confronted Aldama about the move, and the animosity seemingly carried over into his interaction with Morant.
