From designer closets to community support, former “Real Housewives of Atlanta” star Marlo Hampton is proving that giving back is always in style. Hampton, who herself grew up in the foster care system, recently hosted an estate sale, “The Peach Pop-Up,” to benefit foster girls through her nonprofit organization, Glam It Up, Inc.
A Heartfelt Mission: Glam It Up, Inc.
Hampton’s passion for supporting foster youth stems from her own experiences. Having lived in five different foster homes, she deeply understands the challenges these young individuals face. “Glam It Up is near and dear to my heart because I grew up in five different foster homes, so I will always give back,” she shared with 11Alive. Her nonprofit aims to provide mentorship, holiday experiences, and social education to foster girls, instilling confidence and hope for their futures.
She emphasized the importance of letting these girls know their worth: “I want them to know you’re worthy and your current situation does not define your future.” This personal connection fuels her dedication to making a tangible difference in their lives.
The Peach Pop-Up: Bargains for a Cause
Partnering with Atlanta Peach Movers, Hampton transformed their warehouse into a shopper’s paradise for “The Peach Pop-Up,” which took place from October 18th to 19th. The sale offered a unique mix of items, including many “amazing pieces” from Hampton’s personal closet, alongside items from unclaimed storage crates. Shoppers had the chance to snag everything from popcorn machines to coveted Chanel bags, all while supporting a great cause.
The event wasn’t just about shopping; it was a community gathering with music and food adding to the festive atmosphere. Hampton expressed her joy at seeing community members come out to support Glam It Up, Inc., reinforcing her belief that “anyone who’s able to give should give, and it’s the best feeling ever.”
