Amazon is making a major splash in NBA broadcasting with the unveiling of a state-of-the-art, 13,000-square-foot studio. Located at Amazon MGM Studios in Culver City, California, the facility was revealed on October 14th, drawing basketball legends and fans alike in anticipation of the upcoming NBA on Prime season.
A Cutting-Edge Facility for NBA Coverage
The massive, two-story studio boasts over 2,300 LED screens, 22 cameras, and a regulation half-court basketball floor, all designed to offer viewers an immersive experience. This advanced setup aims to bring fans closer to the game than ever before, providing a dynamic backdrop for pre-game shows and analysis.
The upper mezzanine level will serve as the main desk for the pre-game show, offering a vantage point similar to broadcast booths in NBA arenas. The studio will be hosted by Taylor Rooks, alongside esteemed studio analysts including Dirk Nowitzki, Blake Griffin, Steve Nash, and Udonis Haslem, all of whom were present at the unveiling event.
Exclusive Merchandise and Fan Experiences
Beyond the broadcast capabilities, Amazon also showcased exclusive merchandise available through its NBA on Prime partnership. Attendees at the unveiling had the chance to shop for items like Funko Pops, unique NBA on Prime branded gear, Jimmy Butler’s Big Face Coffee, and Dwyane Wade’s wine, Wade Cellars. Wade himself was present, even serving wine at the bar, demonstrating his multifaceted involvement with the brand.
NBA on Prime is set to officially kick off its coverage next week, broadcasting the Boston Celtics vs. New York Knicks game and the Minnesota Timberwolves vs. Los Angeles Lakers game on October 24. Viewers can tune in on Thursdays, Fridays, and Saturdays throughout the season on Prime Video.
