The 19-year-old Harvard student made her official society debut at the highly exclusive Le Bal des Débutantes in Paris, and her famous parents were there to cheer her on every step of the way.
A Debutante Ball Surprise
While Bronwyn was clearly ready for her moment, her participation in the prestigious ball was a bit of a surprise even to her mom, Angela Bassett. In an interview with Hello! Magazine, Bassett, 67, admitted the invitation felt a little out of the blue. She shared, “I wouldn’t think it a normal occurrence to be vetted and invited onto a world stage at such an age.”
Despite the initial surprise, Bassett was completely swept away by her daughter’s grace and poise. She described Bronwyn as having a “spirit of graciousness,” noting how she naturally puts others at ease. It sounds like Bronwyn was born for this kind of elegant occasion!
Bronwyn’s Royal Aspirations
So, what drew Bronwyn, a Harvard student, to such a unique event? She confessed her love for fashion and the dream of feeling like a princess. Seeing other notable young women participate in previous years also convinced her that Le Bal des Débutantes was a truly special event. It’s a fantastic way for young women to transition into adulthood while also supporting a good cause, as the ball is also a charity event.
Family Affair in Paris
Bronwyn wasn’t alone in celebrating this milestone. Her entire family rallied around her, including her dad, Courtney B. Vance, and her twin brother, Slater. While Bronwyn shared a special dance with her father, she chose her brother to be her escort for the evening. She explained, “I thought it would be less pressure to have my brother and built-in best friend,” adding that their photos together would be cherished memories.

After all the hard work and preparation, including daily workouts and watching her diet, Bronwyn had one thing on her mind: food! She humorously shared her immediate post-ball plans involved indulging in some much-needed, delicious, and perhaps not-so-healthy meals. Talk about a reward well-earned!
