First Encounter: A Busy Superstar
Tyla recalled meeting Rihanna for the first time last year. She approached the superstar, offering a simple greeting, only to be met with a hurried response. “I went up to her. I was like, ‘Oh, hey,’ you know, she was like, ‘Hey, um, um, my baby daddy’s calling me.’ And then she left,” Tyla explained.
This brief and somewhat abrupt interaction left Tyla feeling flustered. “I felt awkward,” she admitted. “I don’t know how to say hi if I feel like someone’s busy.” The unexpected response made her second-guess how she should approach such high-profile figures in the future.
Second Time’s the Charm? Not Quite.
The “Water” singer had another chance encounter with Rihanna during the recent Met Gala festivities. However, recalling their previous interaction, Tyla decided against approaching her again. “I don’t wanna go up because I felt like she was busy,” Tyla explained. “And the last time she was busy.”
Instead of forcing another potentially awkward moment, Tyla expressed a preference for waiting for a more natural opportunity to connect. “When we do speak, if we do end up speaking ever, I want us to be like calm so we both can just, you know, vibe and talk nicely,” she shared.
