  • Jermaine Dupri Drops ‘Magic City’ Soundtrack

Get ready to dive into the heart of Atlanta’s legendary strip club, Magic City, with a brand new soundtrack curated by none other than Jermaine Dupri! He’s bringing together a seriously impressive lineup of Atlanta’s finest to score the STARZ docuseries, ‘Magic City: An American Fantasy.’

    A Star-Studded Tribute to Atlanta

This isn’t just any soundtrack; it’s a love letter to Atlanta’s vibrant music scene and the iconic Magic City club. Dupri has enlisted a who’s who of Southern hip-hop royalty. We’re talking features from Quavo, 2 Chainz, T.I., Bow Wow, Young Dro, the late Rich Homie Quan, Ludacris, and so many more. It’s a true celebration of the culture.

The docuseries itself, co-produced by Drake’s DreamCrew Entertainment, is a five-part journey offering an unprecedented look inside one of the most unique spaces in Black culture. STARZ president Kathryn Busby described it as a ‘riveting behind-the-curtain look’ that perfectly complements their slate of ‘adult, culture-driving shows.’

More Than Just Music: A Cultural Hub

Magic City has long been more than just a strip club; it’s a critical hub for new music and a vital part of hip-hop’s flourishing in the South. The soundtrack, featuring 15 tracks, mirrors the docuseries’ exploration of this cultural significance. Many of the artists featured on the soundtrack also make appearances in the series, including Drake and Outkast’s Big Boi.

  • Influencer Under Fire for Crocodile Posts in Australia

Social media influencer Mike Holston, widely known as ‘The Real Tarzan,’ is facing an investigation by Australian authorities following his recent posts featuring close encounters with crocodiles. Holston, who boasts 15 million followers on Instagram, shared videos that have sparked significant backlash and official scrutiny.

    Dangerous Encounters Spark Official Action

The videos in question show Holston appearing to wrestle a crocodile and capture a juvenile saltwater crocodile. Officials from the Queensland Environment Department have stated that such actions are ‘extremely dangerous and illegal.’ They are actively pursuing ‘strong compliance action, including fines,’ to deter similar behavior.

Holston claims the videos were for educational purposes and filmed on ‘aboriginal protected land,’ emphasizing that he does not encourage his followers to replicate his actions. However, the ease with which he appeared to capture the crocodiles has raised concerns among wildlife experts.

Social Media Backlash and Double Standards

The internet’s reaction has been swift and divided. While some commenters expressed outrage, with one even hoping he’d be eaten, others pointed out what they perceive as a double standard. Many noted the stark contrast in public reaction compared to content shared by non-Black media personalities, specifically referencing the late Steve Irwin, ‘The Crocodile Hunter.’

Social media users questioned why Holston’s actions were met with such criticism when Irwin’s career was built on similar, albeit often more controlled, encounters. Some accused critics of having ‘pathetic mindsets’ and exhibiting racial bias, suggesting that a white individual engaging in similar behavior would likely receive congratulations instead of condemnation.

    Conservationist’s Concerns

Bob Irwin, father of the late Steve Irwin, publicly criticized Holston’s video, calling for stricter penalties for social media personalities visiting Australia. He stressed the importance of respecting the country’s wildlife, stating, ‘People visiting our country need to respect our wildlife, or they need to be booted out the door.’

The Queensland Environment Department notes that both saltwater and freshwater crocodiles can grow up to 13 feet long and weigh over 600 pounds. Interfering with these animals carries a maximum penalty of a $25,000 USD fine, highlighting the seriousness of the alleged violations.
