Shilo Sanders Sued for Unpaid Legal Fees

It appears Shilo Sanders, son of NFL legend Deion Sanders and a former Buccaneers tryout, is in hot water over unpaid legal bills. A prominent law firm has filed a lawsuit against him, claiming he owes a substantial amount for services rendered during a complex legal battle.

A Six-Figure Legal Debt

According to USA Today, the law firm Barnes & Thornburg LLP filed a lawsuit on November 17th, alleging that Sanders owes them approximately $164,000. This figure includes the principal amount for services and costs, plus an additional $10,967.91 in interest.

The legal services in question were provided between May 1, 2024, and August 26, 2024. The firm claims that despite presenting invoices, Sanders has failed to make any payments. This situation arose after Sanders retained the firm’s services to represent him in a case stemming from a 2015 incident at his high school, where a security guard, John Darjean, alleged injury during a confrontation.

Bankruptcy and Ongoing Legal Issues

Adding another layer to Sanders’ legal troubles, the lawsuit also mentions his bankruptcy filing. The complaint notes that even when his attorney, Victor Vital, moved to a new firm, Haynes Boone, in August 2024, Sanders remained responsible for any outstanding debts to Barnes & Thornburg. Sanders eventually terminated his relationship with the firm and followed Vital to the new practice.

This isn’t the only financial challenge Sanders is facing. Recently, the Trustee overseeing his bankruptcy case, David Wadsworth, accused Sanders of making unauthorized bank transfers totaling around $250,000 from his account. Wadsworth is seeking the return of these funds, alleging violations of bankruptcy laws and seeking turnover of revenue from pre-petition NIL contracts.

With his NFL aspirations on hold after being released by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Shilo Sanders is navigating a complex web of financial and legal challenges.
