Matt Barnes Accuses Woman of $60K Extortion

Former NBA star Matt Barnes is making headlines again, but this time it’s not for his game. He’s recently revealed that he’s taking legal action against a woman he claims attempted to extort him for a staggering $60,000. Barnes says the entire interaction began and remained strictly online.

The Alleged Extortion Plot

According to Barnes, the situation arose in July 2023 during a brief separation from his on-again, off-again partner, Anansa Sims. He claims he briefly interacted with a woman, whom he refers to as ‘Jesse,’ solely through social media direct messages. Once he reconciled with Sims, Barnes says he cut off contact with this individual.

However, the story took a darker turn when Barnes alleges ‘Jesse’ began threatening to leak private audio messages and DMs unless he paid her $60,000. Barnes shared his side of the story in a social media video, stating, ‘There’s been a lot of bulls**t being said about me over the last six to eight months.’

Legal Action and Public Claims

To support his claims, Barnes has released messages, screenshots, and details of the alleged threats, aiming to provide a clear timeline of events. He also pointed fingers at gossip blogger Tasha K, accusing her of helping to spread what he calls false narratives about the situation.

The situation reportedly intensified after news broke that he and Anansa Sims were expecting a child, a development captured on their reality show, ‘The Barnes Bunch.’ This public attention, Barnes claims, led to further harassment from the woman involved.

Moving Forward Through the Courts

Refusing to be silenced or intimidated, Matt Barnes has decided to take a firm stance by filing a lawsuit. He intends to let the legal system address the allegations and clear his name, moving the dispute from social media to the courtroom.
