Sadly, this marks Sweeney’s third box-office disappointment of 2025, following ‘Americana’ and ‘Eden,’ giving the ‘Euphoria’ star an unfortunate record for the year.

Following the film’s weak performance, Rose, who you might know from ‘Orange Is the New Black’ and ‘Batwoman,’ took to Threads on November 10th to voice her strong opinions. She revealed that she was actually attached to the project early on.

Rose explained that the original script for the Christy Martin biopic was “incredible” and “life-changing.” She was even slated to play the role of Cherry and mentioned that many of the cast and creative team had personal connections to Christy Martin’s story, which was a significant reason she stayed in acting.

The ‘Batwoman’ star then directly addressed Sweeney’s public statements about being proud of the film’s message, even in light of its poor box office performance. Rose seemed particularly irked by comments from Sweeney’s PR team, suggesting the film flopped despite Sweeney doing it ‘for the people’.
