Get ready to dive back into the gritty streets of New York City! STARZ has officially announced the lead actors who will bring younger versions of iconic characters Ghost and Tommy to life in the upcoming prequel series, ‘Power: Origins’.
Meet the New Ghost and Tommy
Harry Eelman, known for his roles in ‘Creed III’ and ‘Brilliant Minds,’ is set to step into the shoes of a young Ghost. Alongside him, Charlie Mann, who has appeared in ‘The Watchers’ and ‘Virdee,’ will play the younger iteration of Tommy Egan. These characters were famously portrayed by Omari Hardwick and Joseph Sikora, respectively, in the original ‘Power’ series.
The prequel series will focus on Ghost and Tommy as ambitious young entrepreneurs striving to make their mark on New York City. STARZ describes ‘Origins’ as a fun, rambunctious exploration of a new time period, highlighting the audacity of these young men determined to become legends in the game.
Expanding the ‘Power’ Universe
Fans will also be excited to know that MeKai Curtis, who stars as Kanan Stark in ‘Power Book III: Raising Kanan,’ will reprise his role in ‘Origins.’ While Joseph Sikora has expressed interest in narrating the series, this has not yet been confirmed.
Showrunner Sascha Penn expressed her thrill about delving into the backstories that have fascinated fans for years. The pilot episode will be co-written by Penn and the creator of the ‘Power’ franchise, Courtney A. Kemp. This marks the fourth spinoff in the ‘Power’ universe, following ‘Power Book II: Ghost,’ ‘Raising Kanan,’ and ‘Power Book IV: Force.’
A Look Back at the Franchise
‘Power: Origins’ is set to answer long-held questions and reveal new layers of the story that viewers have been speculating about. With the original ‘Power’ concluding in 2020 and its subsequent spinoffs wrapping up or concluding their runs, this prequel offers a fresh look at the foundations of the ‘Power’ saga.
