The rap world is still buzzing from the intense feud between Drake and Kendrick Lamar, and now, Boosie Badazz is stepping into the conversation. Appearing on The Jason Lee Show, Boosie didn’t hold back, sharing his disappointment in how many artists seemingly abandoned Drake during the highly publicized battle.
A Lack of Loyalty?
Boosie expressed his dismay, stating, “I don’t like how all these artists left this man to hang.” He acknowledged being a fan of Kendrick Lamar and even admitted Lamar might have won the lyrical war, but he was surprised by the silence from artists Drake had previously supported. “Since I been home, I watched this man boost people’s career, didn’t have to do it,” Boosie remarked, highlighting Drake’s generosity.
He continued, “For everybody to just look the other way. This n—a put money in a lot of people’s pockets.” Boosie believes that Drake’s past actions should have warranted more loyalty from those he helped elevate in the industry. “If I was that n—a, I would be hurt,” he admitted, suggesting that going back to those who turned their backs would be a mistake.
Can Drake Bounce Back?
Despite the intense public battle, Boosie remains confident in Drake’s ability to recover and maintain his superstar status. When asked if Drake could return to his previous form, Boosie responded optimistically. “Yeah. Music is dynamic. He could drop another album like he did in 2016… people will change, bro.”
He even speculated about Drake’s personal life potentially influencing his public image, suggesting Drake might “meet somebody, marry a woman the whole world loves.” Regardless of personal changes, Boosie is certain about one thing: Drake’s music still resonates. “He back number one,” Boosie asserted. “Everywhere I go, I’m still hearing f–king Drake.”
Looking Ahead
Boosie’s comments shed light on the complex relationships and perceived loyalties within the music industry. While he believes Kendrick Lamar had the upper hand during the feud, his main point is about the support system around an artist. Even after a major lyrical battle, Drake’s commercial dominance appears unshaken, according to Boosie.
