Prince Philip Feared Andrew Was Royal Risk

It seems the late Prince Philip harbored significant concerns about his son, Prince Andrew, and his place within the royal family. Recent claims from a royal insider suggest that Philip spent years worrying that Andrew posed a risk to the monarchy’s future.

Philip’s Concerns About Andrew

According to Radar Online, a source close to the late Duke of Edinburgh revealed that Philip viewed Andrew as fundamentally “different” from other royals. This perceived difference, the insider alleged, made Philip believe Andrew was a potential threat to the crown’s legacy. Philip reportedly confided that Andrew was “gullible and easily led,” often falling in with the wrong crowd.

The source further claimed that Prince Philip privately lamented Andrew’s approach to his royal duties, suggesting he treated “everything like a joke” rather than with the seriousness required. These concerns were apparently so profound that Philip wished for Andrew to be completely removed from palace life, seeing him as a “loose cannon.”

A ‘Loose Cannon’ Threatening the Legacy

Philip’s alleged desire to “banish” Andrew stemmed from a deep-seated worry about the impact on the monarchy. The insider stated that the late Duke considered his son a “threat to the legacy of the crown.” While Philip reportedly shared these anxieties with Queen Elizabeth II, she is said to have resisted taking drastic action during his lifetime.

Following Prince Philip’s passing in April 2021, the consequences for Andrew became more pronounced. In January 2022, he was stripped of his honorary military titles and royal patronages. This was followed by further significant changes three years later, when he lost the title “Prince” and the style “Royal Highness.”

The Road to Losing Royal Titles

Andrew was also reportedly ordered to vacate Royal Lodge, the residence he shared with his former wife, Sarah Ferguson. These drastic measures were a direct result of years of controversy, most notably his association with Jeffrey Epstein, alongside allegations of misconduct. The mounting pressure on the monarchy to distance itself from such scandals ultimately led to these decisions.

Buckingham Palace confirmed that King Charles III made the final decision through formal Letters Patent, effectively ending Prince Andrew’s use of any royal title in public life. This marks a significant shift for the Duke, reflecting the serious concerns that, according to insiders, his own father had for years.
