Big30 Remains in Custody After Bond Ruling

The federal case involving rapper Pooh Shiesty and an alleged kidnapping of Gucci Mane is moving forward, and one of Shiesty’s affiliates, Memphis rapper Big30, will remain in custody for now. Despite a $100,000 bond being initially set, a judge has ordered him to stay jailed.

Bond Decision Challenged by Prosecutors

Rodney Wright Jr., known as Big30, appeared in federal court in Tennessee on April 6th. While a magistrate judge set his bond at $100,000, federal prosecutors immediately requested a stay on the decision. Their aim was to challenge the bond ruling before the judge overseeing the case in Texas, where the alleged incident took place.

Court filings reveal that prosecutors argued Wright should be detained due to the “seriousness of the defendant’s offense conduct, his criminal history, and the potential danger that the defendant poses to the community.” This led to Texas District Judge Ed Kinkeade ultimately ruling that Wright would remain behind bars.

Transfer to Texas and Legal Deadlines

Wright is set to be transferred to Texas as the legal dispute over his release continues. Prosecutors have until April 13th to formally file their arguments against releasing him on bond. His attorneys will then have a week to submit their response.

The Broader Case Involving Pooh Shiesty

Pooh Shiesty, whose real name is Lontrell Williams Jr., was arrested separately in Texas. He and eight other individuals, including Wright and Shiesty’s father, Lontrell Williams Sr., are accused of robbing Gucci Mane at a Dallas recording studio. The alleged motive was to force Gucci Mane to sign documents that would end Shiesty’s contract with 1017 Records.

Shiesty’s Own Controversial Statements

Interestingly, Pooh Shiesty himself has recently made headlines, accusing Offset of being a “rat” in relation to the shooting incident outside a Florida casino. He made strong statements about Offset’s alleged actions during that event, adding another layer of drama to the hip-hop scene.

Big30 gained wider recognition through collaborations with Pooh Shiesty, including their 2021 mixtape ‘Still King.’ He later released his own debut album, ‘Last Man Standing.’
