Remember that lawsuit Cam’ron filed against J. Cole last year? Well, it turns out the Dipset general never actually intended to take it all the way to court. In a recent episode of his podcast, Cam’ron confirmed that the legal action has been dropped and revealed his true intentions behind the filing.
Settling the Score Off the Record
The lawsuit stemmed from their 2022 collaboration, “Ready ’24.” Cam’ron alleged that J. Cole promised to either provide another verse or appear on one of his podcasts in return for the track, but failed to follow through. However, the two artists recently sat down for an episode of “Talk With Flee” to hash things out.
Reflecting on the ordeal in an episode released on April 1st, Cam’ron expressed his happiness that the matter was resolved without going to court. “I really wasn’t planning on doing no lawsuit anyway, even though I did it,” he admitted. “At the end of the day, I’m happy it went the way that it went and that we got it resolved.”
J. Cole’s Reaction to the Lawsuit
During their conversation, J. Cole shared his surprise and disappointment upon learning about the lawsuit. He admitted feeling hurt because of the deep respect he has for Cam’ron, viewing him as a “stand-up person.” Cole expressed that he would have preferred a direct conversation over a legal filing.
“I was hurt, almost disappointed,” Cole told Cam’ron. “Because I got so much respect for you, and I look at you like, I know you are a stand-up person. When the lawsuit come out, I’m like, ‘Come on, Cam.’” He added that his initial thought was disappointment, especially since he still planned to attend Cam’ron’s show.
A Tactic for Attention
Cam’ron clarified his strategy, stating, “Of course, it was never gonna go nowhere. But for me, it was more like, ‘I need to get this n***a attention.’” This reveals the lawsuit was less about seeking legal recourse and more about ensuring his former collaborator acknowledged the situation.
